interested in other people than you can make in two years by trying to
get other people interested in you."
How do you show you're interested in people?
By listening to them, learning about them, and hearing their opinions -
by listening rather than talking.
To become a good listener, learn to ask good questions. Questions
beginning with "Who," "What," "When," and "Where," encourage the other
person to talk and give you facts and details. When you ask a "Why"
question, you uncover opinions and motivations.
To let the other person know you heard them, repeat some of their words
back to them in the form of feedback, and ask them clarifying questions
about key words they used.
Make it your focus this week to listen more than you talk... and you
will make friends... by listening.
